FAQ about Hang-Strips - hanging strips for retail product display Q&A

Hang-Strip™ is Index's trade name for clip strips. It's one of Index's core products. With in house production and design team, we have manufactured more than 150 styles of Hang-Strips™.

With a large variety of designs, we are frequently asked by our customers how to choose the most appropriate Hang-Strip™ for their product or for supplying into a particular store.

Here are some of the things to consider when you try to decide which Hang-Strip™ to use. If you are still not sure after reading it, please give us a call. Our 'Hang-Strip™ experts' will help you out.

1.Do certain store groups have special requirements?

Some retailers have their own requirements of Hang-Strips™. It will certainly be helpful if you know what your retail customer's requirements are. Tesco or M&S for example prefers 601-145 601-146 to some other strips.

2. Do certain store groups have preferred suppliers for strips?

No. Certain store such as Tesco will have a Hang-Strip™ specification. You just have to be sure the strip you purchase satisfies the specification. Index range satisfies the requirements of all UK and European store groups.

3. Our packs do not have a euro slot or a hole punched. How can we attach them to a strip?

If there isn't a euro slot or a hole on the packs, you will need a hang tab in order to use one of our standard Hang-Strips™ However, for small packs and sachets with a regular shape, a hang tab hole + a standard strip is the most cost effective solution.

4. What if there isn't a standard strip to suit my product?

You can also send us some of your products, so we can design a strip to suit it. We have designed a few slot strips for tube shaped products, and gravity boxes for some chunky products.

5. What is the right number of packs per strip?

Most of the popular Hang-Strips™ have 12 clips per strip. You can also hang 6 packs per strip (for example, 601-126, 601-158, 601-271), 8, 10, 16 or even 20 packs per strip. Another good option would be Hang-Strips™ on reel. You can simple cut them into any length you like! We also provide cutting service if you require it.

6. What is the maximum weight a strip can hold?

For some extremely heavy products (for example some DIY products), you might want to have a look at the heavy duty Hang-Strips™ (601-132, 601-127).

7. Can we brand a Hang-Strip™?

If you'd like to brand your strip, the best options are those Hang-Strips™ with header area. You can either print labels and apply onto the header or print directly on the strip. You can also ask about our contract packing service if you'd like us to apply the labels for you.

8. What shelf attachment options are there?

The most popular option is to use s hooks, but if your products will be placed near or in the chill area, a sucker or a plastic s hook would be a better choice.

9. I represent a store group. How can Index help us?

Index has the experience and resources to offer a true supply partner function. This includes support and help in offering specialist advice to retailers wishing to develop in-store merchandising and display programmes for Hang-Strips™. Such a programme extends to supporting and advising the store group product suppliers in choosing the correct strip to satisfy in-store programmes and requirements.

10. We are a contract packer with many different requests. How can Index help us?

Index offers specific advice to packers to ensure they have the correct solution for their customers and their own packing function including their supply chain. Index can also help to design an appropriate transit carton for their Hang-Strip™ solution using up to date CAD/CAM software sampling options.
